We know you’ve got questions about what the Freedom Stream Scissor can do. We’re happy to answer them!

Start by checking out our FAQs below. You may find that your question has already been answered.

Streaming is a name for the continuous transmission of audio/video files from a server to a client — and it is quickly becoming the primary way most people receive audio/video content. During the streaming process, the client device (in our case, the Freedom Stream Scissor) plays the media file and transmits it via the internet in a few seconds.

When you cut the cord, you cancel your cable or satellite service and switch to a new delivery system to get the content you want. Many TV viewers are cutting the cord (canceling cable and satellite services) because they’re frustrated by the high costs and the (lack of) customer service.

That’s a good question, and one we wish more people would ask. Here are a few videos of what our interface looks like, and some of the channel offerings under Horror, Sports, Childrens, and Premium/PPV/4K

You have three options for cutting the cord:

Antenna. Maybe your TV had an indoor or outdoor antenna when you were growing up — or maybe you’ve just heard about TV antennas. Antennas are making an impressive comeback with cord-cutters because they allow you to receive free programs from local and broadcast network TV stations (like ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX). You may need a digital converter box if you have an older analog TV or an HDTV manufactured before 2007.

Streaming. You can access media streaming in several ways. You can stream via our Freedom Stream Scissor, or with Smart TV, an Apple TV device, or a media streamer box, such as Roku, Amazon Fire TV, or Google Chromecast. If you have a smart Blu-Ray player and Smart TV, you can access movie and TV content via the internet without any antenna.

Combination of antenna and streaming. Many people find this combination to be the best option. It lets you access local TV channels, as well as content, streamed via the internet.

Cutting the cord is now easy, thanks to the availability of these alternatives to cable or satellite TV.

Streaming is much faster and more efficient than downloading. When you download a video file, your device saves a copy of it to your hard disk. You can’t play the video smoothly until the file has finished downloading, which can require some long waits at times.

In contrast, when you stream a video file, your browser doesn’t save or copy the entire file. Instead, it loads the video file in small chunks and sends them on to you immediately.

Think of streaming and downloading as a stream of water vs. a lake. Both the stream and the lake may hold the same amount of water. But with the stream, the water is continuously flowing, while the lake just sits there. In the same way, a video that’s being streamed flows continuously to your browser, so you can enjoy it right away.

It couldn’t be easier. When you buy a Freedom Stream Scissor, you get a full year of service, including worldwide TV and Video on Demand. When the year is up, you can renew the service for another year.

It’s that easy.

Your account requires 1 main Freedom Stream Scissor, and you can have a total of 4 on one account. And here’s the best news: They don’t all have to be under the same roof. This is great news for travelers who head to their vacation homes regularly — as well as for those who have mobile video in their vehicles and want to keep their kids happy while on the road.

Do you need five Freedom Stream Scissors or more? Call us, and we’ll discuss your options.

The short answer: Yes.

The longer answer: You need an internet connection that can sustain a minimum speed of 10 Mbps (megabits per second). But that connection doesn’t necessarily have to come from your cable company.

If you have a cellphone with a HotSpot, and you have unlimited data, you can even use it to connect your Freedom Streamer to the internet — in fact, that’s what we do! (Be careful, though — If you don’t have an unlimited data plan, you could go through data very quickly, resulting in a large cellphone bill. Check with your cellular carrier to verify your data limits.)

It couldn’t be simpler or quicker. The first step: You plug a cable in to your TV and another cord to your power outlet. You’re already 50% there.

The other 50%? Just turn on your TV and Freedom Stream box and add your Wi-Fi info. And that’s it. You’re ready to open the apps and start streaming.

If you need more assistance, you can always reach out to support — our support lines are open 24/7.

You don’t have to do a thing. We already did it for you. Your Freedom Stream Scissor arrives pre-loaded and ready to go straight out of the box. Plug in the provided HDMI cable, power, and configure your networking (wired -preferred or wireless)

That’s it.

While the Freedom Stream Scissor arrives ready to go, you can also customize it and add your own apps. The Play Store on the Freedom Stream Scissor makes it easy to download any apps or games you might want.

That depends on your internet connection. We suggest a connection of 150 Mbps or faster to run four boxes simultaneously. With slower connection speeds, you may only be able to run one or two boxes at the same time.

Absolutely. To make it easy, just purchase your Freedom Stream Scissor with a memory card or external hard drive preconfigured (that’s an add-on at checkout) to allow for maximum storage. The system comes with 32GB of onboard storage, but that’s good for a few saved movies or a few television shows.

To get the full Freedom Stream Scissor experience, you’ll want to add on an external hard drive or USB memory card.

You can also DIY by attaching a memory card or external hard drive to your Freedom Stream Scissors. You’ll need to set up each app individually to use the memory card or hard drive for storage.

You’ll get everything you’re used to getting. Yes, the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, CW). And also your favorite cable channels (USA, TBS, Food Network, TNT, etc.). In addition, you get access to premium cable channels such as HBO, Starz and Cinemax. You have access to more than 10,000 channels worldwide.

Yes! This is something your cable company can’t offer you: Most major networks and sporting events in 4K. In fact, you’ll have access to more than 1,000 4K channels. (It’s really amazing.)

Yes. You can add adults-only programming to your Freedom Stream Scissor at the time of purchase. Click here for more information on our adult programming.

You can also restrict access to adult programming using a PIN code. Email our support team if you need help to set that up.
